Fox and Hound #1 is a comic created by N. S. Kane. Let me start this off by saying that this is absolutely not for kids. Our story is about two women named Charlie and Lena who do dubious but definitely illegal things for cash. Our story starts with our heroine’s practicing good hygiene until they are interrupted by their contact/middleman Giovanni who has a new mission for them. They get all dolled up and head to a casino and that’s where everything kicks off. Plot-wise it’s very good for an opening issue in establishing characters and giving us a feel for how they act. There is some witty dialogue and decent action and the all too crucial hints at past histories that new series need. There is also a second not-fully-explained element to our leading ladies that I won’t spoil here.
Let’s tackle the set pieces first. Their apartment is a nice little place, nothing really stands out. The casino on the other hand brings to mind what you would see in movies nowadays, that old-fashioned look with the sharpness of modern design. The characters are drawn with great distinction, all the women look different and have their own unique looks and so do the men. The various outfits help keep the pages fresh and people interesting. The faces are very expressive and bring out additional personality, as well as set tones for scenes even before the words are read.
“Is this worth reading?”
Yes.
“Would I like this?”
If you like super(?) ladies doing things they shouldn’t you should grab this. Fans of undercover/stealth stories may want to read as well. Strong LGBT representation here.
“What would this comic’s film rating be?”
R. Clothes were optional.
“Could I get a quote from the comic?”
“Shame on you for accusing a pretty gal like me!”
