The Sinsationals Trilogy is a comic collection by Shade. It collects Sinsational issues 0-2. This is a story about seven women with unique powers, abilities, or bodies that might eventually team up. Though these are three larger issues combined the story doesn’t have a conclusion and I don’t know if more are on the way. There are two big bads in this story, one is some alien lady far out in space and the other is an underwater snake-like creature with arms that impacts the story. Before I give you a quick look at each of these ladies I must tell you that this is a world with mutants and aliens and other creatures walking around. I think they have space travel and be hitting up other planets, but I’m not sure. Let’s get to the ladies!
- Big Girl, a short woman who made a wish to an ironic genie and is now about 8 stories tall.
- Sasha Rain, a stripper turned nun assassin hunting for demons.
- Gamma Sex Bomb, a bodybuilder scientist who drank a gamma-radiated protein shake and got super jacked.
- Allie, a jungle cat girl that got caught, introduced to the internet then became a model.
- Gyna, imagine if Ultron from the MCU was a woman(?).
- Doll Face, a woman who went crazy on some zombies and lost her memory.
- Mammazonia, Wonder Woman. Basically that’s her. Their outfits are even similar.
These ladies are introduced in issue 0, we get a snapshot of their lives in issue 1, and in issue 2 is when things pop off. We don’t get the deepest look into their lives and the best glimpse at their personalities due to the fact that it’s seven of em and the comic has to hop back and forth.
As expected from the creator’s name, this comic is shaded to perfection. It gives art an extra tinge of darkness that fits the dreary tone of some of the characters. Speaking of the ladies, aside from some face sameness, they are all drawn very different whether physically or stylistically. A cat girl who dresses in what seems like the latest fashions, a robot who looks like a smoother Robocop, a Wonder Woman cosplay, a skintight latex wearing nun, a couple people in exercise gear, and a tall woman who has to make do with what she can find. The action scenes are nicely drawn but there aren’t enough. The scenery and architecture are great and help set the scenes, we even have some futuristic hovercraft make appearances. There is a huge pinup gallery at the end of the book.
