Fatgirl #4 is a comic created by John A. Rhodes. This is the final issue of this Nothing-Man spinoff that gave us a closer look at some of the other heroes and villains. Trapped in the facility they tried to break into; Fatgirl, Adrenalynn, and some unexpected people await their fate while being locked up. We get introduced to some new characters and we see some unexplained powers. The plot is very straight-forward and we get deeper into what is really driving the more villainous foes. We’ve seen some of these characters in Nothing-Man but now we know what they are really about. There is a decent amount of action, nothing too crazy. The dialogue is mostly serious though it does have tinges of humor here and there. It never gets too wordy but you might get lost when the big words come through. All in all, this is a good end to a miniseries that has fleshed out both heroes and villains.
This is a strongly colored but slightly cartoony-looking comic. This story does have a tone a bit lighter than Nothing-Man so it fits. Over 80% of this story takes place in an underground facility complete with big screens, cells, and humans floating in tubes of unspecified liquid. This is pretty good expression-wise, though some of them hard to differentiate. And face sameness is very prevalent here. Like extremely. Just change the lipstick, eyebrows, hair, and BAM a new character. Sometimes the bodies of these look a bit off anatomically but that’s only here and there. Costumes for the most part are functional though some err to the side of sexy. The action is followable but every now and again a scene transition might trip you up. Are the ladies here sexualized heavily? Some outfits might beg the question but the hard nipples all over the place answer it.
“Is this worth reading?”
Yes.
“Would I like this?”
If you like superhero tales filled to the brim with women in main roles this is for you. And if you liked Nothing-Man, check this series out.
“What would this comic’s film rating be?”
R. It gets a bit too violent.
“Could I get a quote from the comic?”
“Yes that does seem to be a problem.”
