Love University #1 is a comic written by Allison Chaney Whitmore with art by Carola Borelli and colors by Agnese Pozza. A young woman discovers something shocking about herself during a college visit. This is a supernatural tale with an interesting tilt that makes for a very interesting premise. Our leading lady is Lucy Barloc, a girl going into her senior year who wants to fall in love. This sits in the back of her mind as she travels to these different places. The plot is really light here as we just follow Lucy around and discover things. The action here is almost non-existent and things are pretty calm. The dialogue is easy to understand with only a few wordy pages. This is a debut issue that focuses on our star while softly building up the world around her.
The art here is very detailed with backgrounds that persist from panel-to-panel and add that extra element to the scenes. Colors are within a realistic range. This story begins at a fair/amusement park but it moves all over the place after. The main vibe is that of a college campus. We have an above-average expression level here with most of the looks showcased by Lucy herself. If you look quickly you might not notice because some of the facial changes are subtle. Face similarity is noticeable but not disrupting. Hair on all characters is drawn with extra care so it looks great. There are some supernatural things shown and that ethereally stand out. There are only a couple moments of light action here. The outfits are very teen and fit the theme with no sexualization here.
