Zufan #2 is a comic is a comic written by Beserat Debebe with art and letters by Stanley Obende and colors by Toyin Ajetunmobi. Backroom dealings and secrets are on the rise as both humans and aliens attempt to gain control of the African continent. This is a political thriller with just as much intrigue as real life and is full of people with nefarious motivations. Our leading lady is Zufan Tesfa, the current leader of the African Alliance. There are many other relevant players with the main ones being Kofi and Nkem, along with the alien General Agolfi. The plot focuses on Zufan and the African Alliance becoming closer to the aliens and those who are trying to oppose her. I believe this story takes place before the events of the previous issue. There are deals being made and promises being broken as various characters maneuver to get what they want. The action here is very light and you won’t be seeing any blood or gore. The pace seems purposefully slow as this is a talk-heavy comic and the conversations drive the story. The dialogue is simple to understand and there aren’t really any wordy pages but you will want to pay attention so you don’t get lost in the sea of names and start to confuse people and places. This comic is just as intriguing as its predecessor and it will have you very interested in what happens throughout.
This comic boasts a colorful, detailed art style that will always give you something to look at. Due to this being a politically-themed most of the scenes take place in private rooms and offices so there isn’t much natural scenery to look at, but the little we do see has a realistic look to it. This art gives off a high-class atmosphere with a slightly cyberpunk feel which is brought on by the significant advances in technology. This comic changes locations frequently almost like a political montage. The expression is a bit low which might be a result of the characters all being involved in politics so emotions are muted. The faces are very detailed and would most likely excel at showing emotions but we don’t get to see much. The only odd emotion we really get is one of anger. There are a couple short action moments that don’t show too much.
