Prey for the Sinner #5 is a comic written by Marat Mychaels with art by Marcelo Salaza and letters by Zen. Synthia finds herself being hunted by an unknown woman for an unknown reason. This is a combat-filled issue that plays out like a chase scene from a movie. Our leading lady for this tale is Synthia Kemp, a former psychiatrist that is currently on a quest for revenge. The woman pursuing her is Tae Ammara, who is very persistent and violent. The plot is very simple as Tae is trying to capture Synthia by any means. This story takes place in a high-tech world that is a few bits shy of being cyberpunk. The action here is light on blood and very physical. The pace is somewhat fast but the amount of panels per page slows it up just a bit. The intensity rises and falls with some moments being more stressful than others. The dialogue is snappy and full of battle quips which results in there being no wordy pages. This is a penultimate issue that delivers on excitement while also setting the reader up for the finale.
The art here is smooth-looking with nice bright colors that stand out against the silver and grays of this futuristic world. The majority of the scenery we’ll see is metallic-looking skyscrapers backed by the night sky. Though a few locations are visited in this story the main spot for the scuffles is on top of a building. The expression level here is below average as we don’t see these showing what they feel that often. The range here is also limited as most of the looks are angry and mad; this is probably due to the intensity of the situation. The faces are detailed enough that the looks come across well. A couple of weapon on display here are a laser katana and a chain imbued with something unknown. The action scenes are violent with moments broken down nicely due to the high amount of panels so you shouldn’t get lost. There are hard hits and some blood but nothing crazy. Whereas Syn has on a revealing outfit that doesn’t do much in the way of protection Tae is armored up to her forehead.
