Power Hour #2 is a comic written by Dolan Waddick and Shawn Hudachko with art by Alé Garza with colors by Raúl Manriquez. After telling her friend about her newfound time-sensitive abilities both Jennifer and Tara decide to run some experiments. This is a superheroine tale blending science fiction with the supernatural that sees these two ladies attempt to make sense of these new powers while some mysterious people lurk in the background. Our leading ladies for this story are Jennifer, an aspiring biochemist who stumbled upon a book which has led to her newfound powers and Tara, her best friend and fellow college student who just so happens to be into comics. The story begins with a summary of the first issue delivered via a conversation between the two leads. What follows is a bunch of questions and experiments with the goal of understanding the extent of these powers. This feels like a training scene in a superhero movie that blends the danger and the unknown. The action here is devoid of blood and gore. The pace is slightly slower than average but at other times it is a bit faster so it balances out. The tone is light-hearted with a few serious moments. The dialogue is modern and primarily conversational with a couple pages getting heavy on the words. This is an issue that focuses on the main characters and fleshing them out while quietly building towards the next installment.
The art here is drawn in the thick, smooth-but-detailed style of some modern comics with realistic coloring. The primary scenery is the night sky occasionally bordered by mountains and some trees. The college campus is the starting location with different areas being visited but the bulk of this story takes place outdoors. The panel backgrounds generally consist of scene elements but the rest of the time they are just gradient colors. The expression level here is slightly above average with these ladies not hiding what they are feeling. The range here is pretty good with looks going from happy to disgusted to fear. The faces, though smooth, have enough lines and full features to convey all their emotions clearly. The face sameness is a bit strong here with the ladies looking like palette swaps. The hair here has some great flow and doesn’t look stiff. The action scenes have hard hits but are short and lack blood and gore. The ladies look like models and our leads have visibly hard nipples at nearly all times.
