The Return of Jake Sunrise: The Blank is a comic written by Dean Page with art by DaC Comic. Jake Sunrise, with the assistance of a young man, attempts to capture someone alive for the bounty. This is a Western tale that deals with the supernatural, vengeance, and internal struggles all in the dead of night. Our leading man is Jake Sunrise, a silent man who is unwavering in his pursuit of a bounty. With him is Theladius, an Irish/Scottish(Some googles said he’s probably Scottish) man who has a bone to pick with this particular wanted man. The story begins in a graveyard where this duo gets their eyes on their quarry, but capturing him doesn’t go as smoothly as one might think. This story takes place in a world where supernatural happenings are still a shock to see. The action here is very Western with blood and bullets but things do get gory here. The pacing is slow as most of the words are spoken by an unseen narrator occasionally interspersed with comments from the characters. The tone is dark and serious with an overall high intensity as danger is a constant threat. The dialogue from Theladius contains words and sayings from his home country whereas other characters sound more American. There are more than a few wordy pages. This is an exciting second issue that gives us a look at Jake Sunrise in a new environment and dealing with a different kind of monster; though your focus might be drawn to his impromptu partner.
The art here is smoothly detailed with a slight rough look and gives off a brooding atmosphere. While there are a decent amount of colors most of them are on the darker side due to this story taking place entirely at night. The majority of the scenery is leafless trees against the starry sky with some crypts and tombs. The primary location for this story is a cemetery but it does hit different areas. The backgrounds, save for a few panels, always have part of the scene in them. The expression level here is on the low side with most of these characters having stoic-like dispositions. The range is mostly angry with the occasional shock. The looks come across as they should, as these are hard men who resist showing emotion. The action here involves guns with the scenes being lengthy and showing blood. They also get gory though but nothing too heavy. A lot of classic Western outfits here.
