Miss Meow #8 is a comic written by Aaron Sparrow with art by Emiliano Urdinola and colors by Gaston Zubeldia. Leonidas hunts down Miss Meow as she is still in possession of the helmet! This is a series finale that has big fights, world-shaking revelations, and manages to tie up loose ends. Our main character for this tale is Miss Meow, who has taken the helmet for an unknown purpose. Opposing her is Leonidas, a leader in the Spartan Organization who will stop at nothing to get what belongs to him. Both of these leads have groups assisting them, Miss Meow has five people with cat-related names and Leonidas has Boy Thunder and Kerosene. The Bubblegum Blitzkrieg is still attempting to make an escape from this entire situation. The crux of this story is still a fight over the helmet but it’s become more of a chase. The action is bloody and rough but there isn’t any gore. The pacing is slower than average due to the high amount of panels and alternating perspectives. The tone is serious and things are as intense as they have been for the last couple of issues. The dialogue is very conversational with mid-battle quips and angry back-and-forths. There are a couple of word-heavy pages. This is a final issue that excitingly wraps everything up while keeping the door open for future stories.
The art here is very detailed, reminiscent of the 90’s, and boasts many panels with a lot to look at. The coloring is realistic when possible so it’s easy to picture some of these scenes in real life. The scenery is mainly tall buildings against the night sky. The locations are either the middle of the street or a mansion interior, and we’ll bounce between both of those places. The backgrounds usually have parts of the scene which helps you stay locked in to the story. The expression level here as these characters are in a very intense environment. We get the full range looks here form angry to sad, furious to remorseful. The emotions are easy to glean from their faces as they are full of the little details that make them come alive. There is some light face sameness here, primarily among the men, but it shouldn’t be distracting. The mystical/superpower effects are either bright or ethereal but they will catch your eye are regardless. The action scenes are lengthy and full of punches, blasts, and sharp weaponry. The scenes do get bloody but it isn’t anything too crazy. Some of the costumes here have a distinct theme but for the most part it is skintight combat gear all around. Just about everyone here looks like they could be a model.
