Endless Hunt #1 is a comic written by CJ Hudson with art by Rio Burton. A king hunts for the sorcerer who has abducted his wife. This is a violent fantasy story with Norse influences and an interesting plot. The main man for this story is King Scemu, a warrior with good fighting ability and a determined spirit. With him are a number of unnamed men who are there to assist him on this journey. This issue begins in the middle of a battle against skeletons with a number of causalities already. From here we learn how and why these things are happening and we’ll follow Scemu as he pushes forward. Aside from the fantasy elements this seems to take place on a world much like ours. The action is very bloody and gory with some gruesome moments. The pacing is faster than average and you might get a bit lost. The tone is serious with an air of desperation and is almost a sequence of intense moments. The dialogue sounds like older English and there aren’t any wordy pages. This is a fantasy tale with a plot that will both intrigue you and leave you with questions.
The art here is lightly detailed and may remind you of Manhwa/Manhuas. There’s a nice variety of colors here with but nothing is too bright. The scenery looks as if it was drawn with watercolors and from snowcapped hills to sand dunes it really helps add an extra layer to the story. The location is constantly changing but wherever they are you can feel the weather. The backgrounds usually have parts of the sky or landscape in them and this keeps you grounded in the scene. The expression level here is slightly above average as each emotion comes across clearly. The range is a bit limited because these characters are hard fighting men and the only looks they show are either fear or anger. The violence is bloody with some nasty shots and gore. The action is near-constant with good flow. The outfits here are very medieval.
