Rumble Kings #2 is a comic written by Ryan Cummins with art by Dani Pascual and colors by DC Alonso. The Kings must battle their way out of danger to assist in Lumen’s mission. This is a post-apocalyptic, science fiction, fantasy comic that features a large cast of characters that have history with one another. The Kings have four members: Raleigh with the sword, Garven with the axe, Marek with the daggers, and Arlo with the staff. Also with them is Lumen Scott, a woman agent who used to be with Raleigh and who now needs the Kings’ help to complete her mission. The Kings also come across Lord Krodyn, he is the head soldier for the Emperor Dariox. The story begins where the last one ended with the Kings being surrounded by Krodyn’s men. Pasts are brought up and swords clash and the situation gets very electric. This takes place in a world where cities are walled safe havens against the roaming wasteland. The action here is bloody with some dissection-style gore. The pacing is steady to slightly faster than average with a serious tone. There are also a number of prolonged intense moments. The dialogue here is mostly conversational with anger and arguing. There aren’t any word-heavy pages. This is an issue that continues the excitement and gives us a deeper look at some of these characters while giving us a story that you’ll want to see through to its end.
The art here is smoothly detailed with some slight cartoonishness. The colors here are mostly in a darker tone with some strong shading. The scenery is either lightning-filled skies or large sandy deserts. The primary locations are nondescript battlefields, spaceships, and the aforementioned desert. The backgrounds are generally split between showing the scene or being a cloudy gradient. The expression level is here is around average with not much range being shown. The looks we’ll get are almost entirely anger-based with the rare smile. The faces are decently detailed but can look stiff on occasion. The effects are mostly lighting with bright explosions from time to time. The violence is bloody with blade-based gore. The action scenes usually cut away from the fight and just show the aftermath.
