Kristy Kringle #3 is a comic written by Marat Mychaels with art by Matthew Weldon and colors by Bryan Magnaye. Kristy and Santa continue their fight against Humphrey and the traitorous elves. This is a supernatural fantasy Christmas comic centered on the legend of Santa Claus while featuring a large amount of violence. The leading lady for this tale is Kristy Kringle, she is Santa Claus’ daughter who has been called upon to assist in this battle against rebellious elves. The main man is Santa Claus, after having been captured he is now fighting back. The story continues from where it left off with Santa getting involved while Kristy is somewhat incapacitated. This brawl becomes a lot more destructive as other characters jump into the fray. The violence here is very bloody, hard-hitting, and gory, with many gruesome attacks. The pacing is steady with a gritty, dark twist on the Santa Claus mythos. This is highly intense throughout, mostly due to violence. The dialogue is conversational and aggressive with mid-battle quips and banter. There are no word-heavy pages. This is a violently exciting issue that wraps things up nicely with fists, kicks, and Christmas spirit.
The art here is drawn in a very detailed style that is a bit reminiscent of the 90’s/2000’s. The coloring is very Christmas-coded with red, green, and white being most prominent. For scenery we’ll see bits of snow-covered ground and some brickwork of a castle. Most of the backgrounds are gradient colors so we’ll see little of the actual surroundings. The expression level here is above-average as there are many characters with a variety of looks. The main emotion is one of anger/determination, with rare happiness. The faces range in quality from decent to high detail with the different expressions usually coming across clearly. The violence here is delivered mainly through physicality with some attacks taking on a more supernatural quality. There are many gruesome attacks that lead to a large amount of blood, and some nasty gore. This comic is basically one long action scene with set pieces and striking moments.
