Infinity Agents #1 is a comic written by John Schlim Jr. with art by Joel Cotejar and colors by Isai Munake. The hero Vanquish is pursued by a government agency who wants to question him about his abilities. This is a superhero science fiction comic that has violent action, sneaky drama, and a bit of mystery. The main man for this story is Vanquish, he is a superhero with an exoskeleton that grants him flight, super strength, and eye blasts among other things. His name is Raymond and he has a wife named Sandy; he’s also a cop. The organization after Vanquish is the Infinite Borders Security Agency with three main members: Agent Endicott who is very passionate and aggressive, Senior Agent Lattimore who is trying to hold everything together, and Agent Baxter who watches the arguments between the other agents and tries to apply logic. This story begins with Vanquish facing off with a giant robot as Agent Endicott surveys the situation from a nearby vehicle. Their battle causes substantial destruction but Vanquish is successful and afterwards he decides to speak face-to-face with Agent Endicott. This takes place in a world where aliens of different kinds exist. The violence here is destructive but there isn’t any blood or gore. The pacing is steady with a serious tone with a little grit. The intensity is raised mainly due to drama but also with violence. Most of the early dialogue is narration from Agent Endicott with the rest of the issue being primarily conversational. There is one word-heavy page but a few others get close and there are many thick text bubbles. This is an interesting debut issue with a dramatic story that stars determined characters with clashing goals. There is also an eight-page bonus story starring a much older Vanquish as he battles the Hyena Boys.
The art here is drawn in a detailed, modern, gritty style with strong lighting and shading. The color range here is realistic with a palette of mostly blacks, blues, grays, and reds. There isn’t much natural scenery as this takes place in a concrete jungle. The location is usually outdoors on random city streets and alleys as well as restaurant and office scenes. The backgrounds do a good job of showing the surroundings which adds something extra to the different moments. The expression level here is above-average as the looks can change multiple times on the same page. The main emotion here is anger but there is a lot of shock, confusion, annoyance, and irritation. The faces here have a high amount of detailing from the eyes to the teeth which helps the different expressions come across clearly. The violence is destructive but it doesn’t get bloody or gory. Almost all of it is delivered physically. The action scenes come in smooth-moving bursts with a decent amount of panels per page.
