Vanya: The Lost Warrior #4 is a comic written by Alyza Dunn & Mike Tener with art by Zoran Jovicic and colors by Bryan Magnaye. Vanya and Serah see old friends and make new ones when they come across soldiers from the future. This is a futuristic science fiction comic that takes place in prehistoric times with militaristic vibes, graphic sex, and hard-hitting violence. The leading lady here is Vanya, she is a Time Guard who was undergoing survival training but she is now attempting to find hidden armories as things in the future have taken a turn. With her is Serah, she is a friend from the future who was sent to the past after a devastating attack by the Torridians. This story begins where the last issue left off with our two warrior women coming across men armed with guns. It turns out these soldiers are from the future after some identification they provide these ladies with information, equipment, a shower, and a hot meal. This takes place in prehistoric times with a bunch of dinosaurs and large creatures like tigers and snakes. The violence here is bloody with some gore. The pacing is steady overall with the filthier moments being a bit faster. The tone is like that of a something you’d see from Edgar Rice Burroughs with its mix of advanced technology and ancient setting. There are a few violently intense moments. The dialogue here is conversational with good back-and-forth and a modern talking style. There aren’t any word-heavy pages here. This is an interesting issue that is calmer than the previous installments as these ladies take some downtime before heading off to complete their mission.
The art here is drawn in a smoothly detailed modern style with decent lighting and shading. There are two main color palettes here: the red, blue and silver “Sci-Fi” palette and the green, brown, and gray “Jungle” palette. For scenery there are a lot of winding and tall trees, lakes and rivers, and mountains. The location changes somewhat frequently as these ladies start off in the base which has showers, a cafeteria, and offices and they soon head outdoors in the very familiar, sprawling jungle. The backgrounds usually show the immediate surroundings which adds something extra to each scene. The expression level here is below average outside of sensual moments as these characters like to maintain hard looks. Emotions we’ll see here include shock, happiness, and anger. The faces have a decent to above-average amount of detail with the different looks being clear more often than not. Weapons used here include guns, swords, and bows and arrows. There are some hard-hitting attacks that lead to blood and there is some gore. The action scene is somewhat lengthy and it has a good flow. All the women here have large breasts and they wear revealing clothes or nothing at all.
