Vanya: The Lost Warrior #7 is a comic written by Mike Tener with illustrations by Zoran Jovicic and colors by Bryan Magnaye. The Torridians are preparing to attack while everyone else is trying to figure out a way to stop them. This is a futuristic science fiction comic that has militaristic vibes, deep drama, graphic sex, and light violence. The leading ladies here are Vanya, Niya, and General Tora. Vanya is a Time Guard who has gone from simply testing her survival skills to being a key player in the fight against the Torridians. Niya is a former Time Guard and current Champion of the Bone Tribe and she is attempting to hatch dragon eggs that should assist in the upcoming battle. General Tora is in charge of the Torridian troops on this planet and has to deal with a crisis while readying her troops for an assault. This story begins with a look at the Torridian forces as they discuss their plan of action. General Tora says that they will make their move on the Terran colonies then she heads to her quarters to relax beforehand. After some freak events the perspective shifts to Niya as she is restrained by an Astral Guard she knows named Elah. This takes place in a prehistoric world where dinosaurs run rampant. The violence can be gory and gruesome but it is rare. The pacing is overall faster than average as there are a number of pages where not a lot is said. The tone is like that of space opera specifically when it’s the calm before the big battle. There are a couple of violently intense moments but there are more dramatically intense ones. The dialogue here is conversational with decent back-and-forth and a variety of talking styles from the emotionless to the poetic. There are no word heavy pages here. This is an intriguing issue where we see all the different sides of this conflict prepare for the impending battle; all using mind and might in unique ways.

            The art here is drawn in a smoothly detailed modern style that might remind you of 70’s era comics with a nice focus on lighting and shading. The color range is predominantly from the “Sci-Fi” palette with its silvers, blues, and blacks. For scenery we have a thick forest and some mountains with the most indoor scenes of any installment in this series. There are moments at the Torridian Base Camp, Terran Base Alpha, and inside the Bone Tribe’s home cave. The backgrounds do a great job of consistently showing the actual surroundings; this gives the different scenes a bit more weight. The expression level here is very much towards the lower end as just about everyone is sporting a hard, unflinching look. Anger is pretty much the only emotion we’ll see here. The faces have an average to good amount of detail with the expressions usually being clear. Torridians are purple with horse-like legs and are noticeably larger than humans. There is some gruesomeness via animal-on-animal violence and more militaristic means; both of these methods lead to bloody gore. The action scene is a couple pages long with good character focus. All the women here are large-breasted and a lack of clothing/nudity is the norm for most of them.
