Seeing Red #3 is a comic written by Marcel Dupree with art by Mannix Francisco and colors by Bryan Magnaye. This village has a new set of problems when these perpetually sleeping girls wake up. This is a supernatural fantasy comic with some violence, demon drama, and high-stakes mysteries. The trio of main men here are: Short Tail the red-skinned, pig-faced, half-demon, Frode the elderly healer, and Darby is a connected man who runs a deadly tournament. Ella takes a backseat in this issue. The story begins where the last one ended with these sleeping young girls waking up and having menacing stares, glowing pupil-less eyes, and a super-strength. After launching Short Tail across the room they head outside going who knows where. This takes place in a standard fantasy world with orcs, demons, and strong magic. The violence is bloody and a bit gruesome with some goriness. The pacing is steady overall with some speedier sections. There is a mysterious tone here with multiple intense moments of a violent and/or dramatic kind. The dialogue is straightforward with a lot of back-and-forth, small sentences, and a proper English talking style. There are no word-heavy pages here. This is an intriguing and relatively calm issue that gives the side characters a chance to shine and that builds the tension for future installments.
The art here is drawn in a detailed solid-looking modern style with thickish outlines and strong lighting and shading. Most of the colors here are dark in tone with brown, gray, and red being the most prominent. For scenery there is a thick forest that looks easy to get lost in and that also serves as one of the primary locations. The other main spot is the makeshift hospital where the healer stays. The backgrounds are split between showing gradient colors and the actual surroundings like bricks and stones. The expression level here is below average as these characters rarely react to what goes on. We will see looks of shock, confusion, annoyance, and irritation. The faces have a high amount of detail down to wrinkles and they show the different expressions very clearly. There aren’t any weapons used here and the violence is bloody with some gruesome bits and goriness. The action scenes come in short bursts with focus on the specific moments.
