Kim the Delusional #2 is a comic written and drawn by Bill McKay with colors by Sanju Nivangune. In this zombie wasteland Kim faces off with her former coworker Tina, now known as Tina the Unpleasant. This is a science fiction zombie comic that takes place in a post-apocalyptic environment with extremely gory violence, a bit of comedy, and standout characters. The leading lady here is Kim, in the past she worked at a strip club but now she is a very skilled zombie-killer with a variety of weapons. She appears to have a form of narcolepsy that causes her to randomly fall asleep. Tina was one of the most popular dancers at the strip club but now she sits on a throne partially made of skulls and commands zombies. This story begins where the last one ended with Kim and Tina having a face off. After a villainous speech by Tina(with irritated commentary by Kim) she sends some of her zombies after Kim ordering them to “Dismantle her!” There is frequent bouncing back and forth between the past and the present. This takes in the modern world that has very recently turned into a post-apocalyptic wasteland with semi-intelligent zombies. The violence here is extremely gruesome and gory with organs and bones all over the place. This moves at a steady pace with a Mad Max x Zombies kind of vibe. This has its share of dramatic bits but it is overwhelming violently intense. The dialogue is very conversational with humor, a high level of aggression, and very descriptive insults. There aren’t any word heavy pages here. This is a thrilling and revealing sequel issue that expands on its strong characters and strange world while providing the humor and gratuitous violence that readers have come to expect from this series.
The art here is drawn in a smoothly detailed, lightly cartoonish modern style with shiny lighting. Though there is a lot of green, red, and orange the overall color palette is realistic with regular splashes of pink and blue. Outside of four palm trees in the rare outdoor scene there isn’t much natural scenery here. There are two main locations here: Tina’s lair in the present and the strip club Teasers 2 in the past. Backgrounds tend to be very blurry with hints of actual physical surroundings. The expression level here is high as these characters react frequently and realistically. There’s a lot of anger and aggression going around with annoyed, irritated, and snarky looks a plenty. Faces here have an overall good amount of detail with strong features that lead to just about every expression, even the subtle ones, being clear. There is a bit of face sameness but you shouldn’t get confused. The zombie creatures are green and they can have animal/devil-like horns. Firearms are the main weapons we’ll see but there are some sharper tools like axes and blunt objects like body parts. The violence here features many gruesome and stomach-turning attacks that lead to heavy gore(entrails, bones, blood). There are three action scenes and they tend to be at least a few pages in length with a lot to take in, a high panel count, and a smooth flow. All of the women here have large breasts model-like bodies and their clothing is revealing and skin tight.
