Muscle Mommies from Mars #1 is a comic written by Garrett Gunn with art by Daniel Eduardo Mendoza and colors by Rodney Velchez. Delilah Dreadnought’s exploits have attracted the attention of the Kingdom of Mother. This is a science fiction combat-focused comic with very muscular women, a bit of interplanetary drama, and more than a few erotic moments. The first of the two leading ladies here is Mother, she is the large and yoked ruler of this kingdom on Mars and she likes to uphold traditions. On Earth the main ma’am is Delilah Dreadnought, she is the muscular and Mohawk’d seven-time Female Champion of the Universe in what appears to be a major professional wrestling organization. This story begins in the coliseum on Mars where two women are about to battle for the chance to have a seat beside Mother. They begin to brawl as Mother looks on, breaking pillars and kicking up sand as they quickly move around. At the conclusion of the match Mother is called away to the situation room as an urgent matter has come up. While Earth in this world seems identical to ours Mars is a matriarchy that is very technologically advanced but they dress like the ancient Greeks or Romans. The violence here is very physical and can get a bit bloody but it isn’t gory. This moves at a faster pace and it sort of has a John Carter fish-out-of-water kind of tone. Though there is some underlying drama this is more violently intense than anything. The dialogue here is spoken in a proper English-style on Mars whereas on Earth it’s just modern English; there is a decent bit of back-and-forth with some aggression. There are no word-heavy pages here. This is an entertaining fight-heavy debut issue that has strong(literally) female characters and a fascinating, prideful, and advanced lady-led kingdom.
The art here is drawn in a detailed modern style with thick outlines and decent lighting and shading. This has a wide-ranged color palette overall with bright splashes in the hair and clothes but while Mars has a lot of tan/brown Earth has a lot of dark blue/gray. For scenery we have plants around Mars on balconies and indoors in pots. There are really only three main locations here: the coliseum on Mars(which looks almost identical to the one on Earth) which also has a pool/relaxation room, the situation room, and the wrestling arena which has a number of rooms in the backstage area. Backgrounds usually show the actual physical surroundings in both the foreground and the distance with gradient colors appearing on occasion. The expression level here is high as the different looks are constant and strong. Most of the emotions here are aggressive like anger or rage but there is also a good bit of happiness and fear. The faces here have a good amount of detail and strong features including the especially the eyes, nose, and mouth with just about every look being very clear. There is a bit of face sameness here but you shouldn’t get anybody confused. The people Mars look human for the most part but some of them have horns and elf-like ears. Though we do see an axe and bo staff pure physicality is the main weapon of choice. Violence here gets a bit bloody and there are a few brutal hits but there isn’t anything gruesome or gory. There is one main action scene and it has a good number of panels and a smooth flow. Just about every woman here is built like muscular models with large chest, big butts, hard nipples, and tight/revealing clothes.
