Angry Squad #2: Viva Las Angry is a comic written by Lucas Scheffel with art by Martin Pouso. A really angry old man has to fight his past both literally and figuratively. The old man is Angry Fred, and he is accompanied by a primate, two ladies with superpowers, and a couple other seemingly regular people. While the last issue was moving very fast and seemed very random, this time around there seems to be a bit more structure. The main story involves Angry Fred dealing with people from his past while the rest of his team investigates some illegal activity. I don’t want to give many other details because of spoilers, but you will be left with a few questions when you finish reading this. There is relatively good amount of action. I say it’s relative because there are sixty-six pages of comic here. The dialogue is decent though it can get action-heroish frequently. And be prepared for cliché lines. There are more than a few info dumps and a good bunch of wordy pages but it does read at a good pace so you probably won’t get slowed too much. This is action-filled comic with an ok story and a decent cast of characters. You might even get some laughs out of it.
We have a different artist this time around and this style has a greater emphasis on shadows. Most of the backgrounds have a sort of fade to them so the colors on things in the foreground tend to stand out more. This comic goes to a hanger, a casino, and a desert. Some areas stand out more than others because of the aforementioned background fade. These are some very expressive characters and surprisingly the main look ISN’T anger! The faces are also unique and have a slight cartoony look to them. Except for a couple of examples most of the outfits you’ll see are pretty common. Action scenes here flow well but it isn’t all fights, there are a number of races shown. The art here isn’t standard, but it fits the story perfectly.
