Babylon Working #1 is a comic created by Marcel Dupree & Joshua Metzger with art by Mannix Francisco. A team of space pirates/thieves steal some things they probably should have left alone. The team in question consists of five women: A human(I think) a shapeshifter, a anthropomorphic dog, a robot(?) and an unspecified alien. This plot kicks off when these ladies decided to steal some things but one of the items they take decides to fight back. There is a decent amount of action here with gunplay and posturing; it seems as if this is giving us a taste of what is to come. The dialogue here is straight to the point but they still manage to squeeze in some humor and personality. And only one page in this whole comic is wordy, but overall this comic is a breeze to read. This was a great introductory issue to what seems to be an action and drama-filled series.
Most of this comic takes on spaceships so metallic walls and floors will be the primary background. This comic isn’t the brightest but it is very colorful; the world seems more alive. The main characters are pretty stale-faced throughout but the side folk have all kinds of looks. The reverse is much more common. In spite of having the main cast being predominately female the face sameness is kept to a minimum, which is very refreshing to see. The outfits on our ladies are very revealing, with none of them looking like they offer any kind of protection. They are stylish though, with one of them wearing looks to be Asian garb and another has something that appears to be African influenced. The action scenes have good flow and show the fight from multiple angles, which is nice when dealing with a large team. Women are sexualized here, not in the world of the story but mainly due to the fact that titties are out frequently.
