Black Bishop is a comic created by Marcel Dupree and Gaurav Shrivastava, and published by Evoluzione Publishing. This is a decently lengthy story with a definite end, and I’ve heard no murmurs of a follow up. In this comic we follow a woman named Black Bishop, who works for an organization known as the board. She takes part in clandestine missions where people die and secrets get stolen and the culprit is never caught. Her life takes a turn for the worse when it is discovered that she made a mistake and relatively innocent people are paying for it. Our leading lady is bad and she knows it. Her inner monologue is her talking about how well she does what she does and how no one surpasses her. She reminds me of an 80’s action star in that regard. The plot for this comic isn’t anything off-the-wall but it will keep you engaged. Dialogue is realistic and witty, though every now and then there are too many words on the page.

            First thing I need to get off my chest are the costumes. They are some heat. Most of them are skintight because duh, superheroes, but the colors and gloves and boots make them cool. Our main woman’s outfit is basically a hoodie combined with a magician’s coat, and her titties are out for some reason, but with the dark green palette it all comes together nicely. Moving on, the buildings seen do a good job of evoking the kind of atmosphere the scene needs, such as a hidden lab with thick sliding doors and test chambers reinforcing the secrecy and importance of the mission. Faces here are decently expressive, though most characters are seen wearing masks.

This a woman-led comic that deals with stealth and slight conspiracy. That’s like three different boxes right there. And there are superpowers all over the place.

PG-13, limbs are out of place.
