Blood N’Bullets #1 is a comic created by Monte Michael Moore. It stars a woman nicknamed “Bloody Mary”. She has a fierce reputation and doesn’t put up with any mess, Mary is written as way tougher than nails. Her story starts with her heading into town to visit her brother and just unwind. Her brother Holden isn’t the town’s favorite person as of late due to him marrying a Squaw woman named Blackbird. It is especially disliked because Holden has two daughters by his first wife(?) and they think Blackbird isn’t fit to raise em. Due to certain supernatural events occurring later in the story an impromptu team is assembled in order to obtain deserved justice. This story features way more Eastern Europeans than I’ve ever seen in a Western but they fit perfectly within the story like a puzzle piece. I don’t have any inkling of how long this story is intended to be but judging from the size of this first issue(48 pages) this might have just one more coming. It kinda reads like a two-part episode.
This is a well drawn comic. The daytime scenes have that brownish-orange tint seen in every Western ever, whereas the nighttime panels have that eerie look that lets you know you’d better watch your back. This story is drawn in a sort of modern 90’s style, with the same type of line art but better coloring so it looks very clean and fadeless. Faces can get a bit similar which can hurt when it comes to adding some personality to a character. And the default facial expression in this comic seems to be anger, with a sprinkle of disgust. The outfits seen fit the time and look good. We have some sharp jackets, vest variety, and some lovely dresses.

If you like Westerns, female leads, or classic supernatural creatures, this’ll be a nice read.

PG-13, wouldn’t be a Western without gunfights.
