Broke Down And Four Dead Bodies #1 is a comic written by Travis Gibb with art by Felix Novara with colors James Sims. After a deal ends badly two men are left pushing a car containing four dead bodies. This is a crime story starring some guys who are trying to move up the ranks but their plans have gone awry. One of the men in this situation is named Denver; he’s a former bank robber who was given a second chance by Mr. Washington. The other man is Randy Noble; an associate of Mr. Washington who has just been released after serving three years. The plot starts somewhere near the end and we get flashbacks as our characters recall how they ended up where here. Almost no detail is left out. The action is very appropriate for this genre as those who have consumed any gangster media can attest to. The pacing is pretty steady; it goes from the current time to the past with little confusion. There is an overall feeling of stress and the characters either talk very calmly or angrily. Everything said is pretty easy for the average person to understand but there are a few pages thick with words. This is an entertaining start to a crime story about two confused guys with rotten luck.
This is a gritty looking comic with a decent range of colors. The locations change frequently but they tend to persist from panel-to-panel. And while they don’t provide the most eye candy they do add a bit of life. The expression level here is pretty low as the characters only seem to have three different looks and the main one is that of anger. Most of the faces look the same aside from skin tone and facial hair. The action is mostly gunplay with a few physical attacks strewn about. The action scenes are easy to follow and tend to be short and concise.
