Caspian Porter #2 is a comic created by Drew D. Lenhart with art by Juan Fleites. After crash-landing on Mars millions of years in the past young Caspian must now come to terms with what is probably his new life. Besides our very abrasive lead we’ll get to know the borderline jungle girl Lenn and her father Baron Von Den Burg. As our lead comes to terms with his new normal he’ll experience just a bit of what this society has to offer. This series has had just enough action to move the plot, nothing too crazy, and that remains the same here. Caspian is a pretty angry guy(partly justifiably) and nearly everything he says is snarky, with irritation, or just plain mean. Fortunately this comic has realistic dialogue because people tend to react accordingly; they either just ignore it or call him out on it. And this isn’t a case of the “hero” being bad and making this comic unreadable, if anything this makes this comic even easier to immerse yourself in as his reaction is logical. There are a few wordy pages due to some info dumps about the planet and its inhabitants. Overall this is a good comic about a man switching timelines who must now adjust.
If you’ve ever seen a sci-fi desert aesthetic town you can picture what this Mars looks like. Though the jungle is nearby so it’s more plains and less desert. This comic is colored in such a way that you can just imagine everything is dusty. There are a bunch of close-ups here which almost requires the faces to excel at showing emotion and this comic does a pretty good job. There are a lot of little details to notice in the faces that add an extra element to the scenes. The outfits here are real Mad Max-like. Some people do wear modern attire and some are robed up. The action here is straight-forward and very easy to follow. The only person whose outfit seems over-the-top is Lenn’s but that’s only if you consider it inappropriate for the jungle.
