Ennead: The Rule of Nine, Book 4 – Heart That Wanders is a comic created and written by J. L. Johnson with art by Apolonia “Apple” Nunez. I’m gonna keep it 100, I do not know what I just read. Like the last issue this one is short, but it’ll seem longer cause you’ll be confused. This comic stars a woman named Ish’a who is mentally in another plane of existence for some reason? I really did not understand where they were or what they were doing. I think this was about a woman coming to terms with her self-doubt and expectations thrust upon her by others. Or I could be absolutely wrong. This comic is either very philosophical or it just went over my head. There is bunch(not too much) of dialogue on screen but only the translation is in English. The characters speak in a different language. Will this character pop up in other issues? I don’t know. I hope she does, the more the merrier.
This story predominately takes place on a mountain with cliffs so the scenery doesn’t stand out as much. Let me just jump to the four characters we see. First off, their hair is fire. We have one lady rocking a shorter white hairdo and the other three have differently styled dreadlocks. Second, these characters are just expressive enough. Third, the outfits look cool and I think our leading lady is a ranger. There are some light mystical effects onscreen but for the most part we won’t see anything out of the ordinary. Overall this comic is nice to look at.
“Is this worth reading?”
If you can understand it, yeah.
“Would I like this?”
If you like philosophically-driven comics that just so happen to star black women you should flip a few pages. This still takes place in a fantasy world.
“What would this comic’s film rating be?”
G.
“Could I get a quote from the comic?”
“You knew I would not understand.”
