Fox and Hound #3 is a comic created by N. S. Kane. Right off the heels of our last adventure our ladies are not in high spirits. Their friend Giovanni is a very bad spot, having been captured, beaten up, and now used as bait. Charlie is extremely pissed, Lena is very calm, and they head out into what they believe is a trap. This issue probably has the best banter between our two stars in this whole series. If only we could’ve heard it said aloud. We get another crucial snippet into Charlie’s past that help us understand what kind of person she is, but we do a full swan dive into Lena’s former life in Russia and it shows her in a different light. We also get introduced to new character who it seems will have a large bearing on the story in the future.
The art is almost jarringly different from the last couple of issues but not a bad way. It has a new kind of shine to it with heavy shadowing that fit the tone of the story. The faces are still expressive and solidly drawn. All the characters shown have specific styles that come through in their various wardrobes that help keep them unique. The costumes still high-tech and powerful and the casual wear is true-to-life. In certain scenes the background changes to a mostly solid color save for a few set pieces, that helps draw our focus to specific elements that shouldn’t be missed.
