Illectrik: Agent of Helix #1 is a comic written by Tanner Hurley with art by Benjamin Sanchez, C. Michael Lanning, Edgar Wolv, and Ivy Gladstone. Illectrik is attempting to complete dangerous missions. This is a science fiction comic with some fantasy elements and interesting characters. The leading lady for this tale is Illectrik, she is a skilled combatant with special abilities and a bit of drama. She’ll run across some women who have unique powers, opposing goals, and plenty of anger. There are two unconnected stories here and they both feature Illectrik going on a retrieval mission. Both of these dangerous missions take a violent turn. The action here does get gory and feature some blood. The pacing is fast as there is more fighting than talking and the tone is a more lighthearted in the first story but more serious in the second. The intensity spikes during the fights as things become more dangerous. The dialogue is mostly conversational with no wordy pages. This is debut comic that shows an interesting character in a couple different situations and we get to see how she deals with the pressure.
There are two art styles here: one is reminiscent of Danger Girls comics with heavy stylization and vibrant colors whereas the other is in a modern style with softer coloring. The scenery is very rocky with cliffs and deep drops. The location for the first story is abandoned buildings on a strange planet whereas the second takes place in a chamber. Overall the backgrounds usually show the scene which increases the impact of each moment. The expression level here is slightly above-average as we get strong looks from most characters. The range consists of anger and determination with the occasional smile. The faces are well drawn with good detailing and every look comes across clearly. The mystical and sci-fi effects are bright and/or electric. The violence here features slicing and there is resulting gore with some blood. The action scenes are of decent length but the flow can be jarring and might have you wondering how they got from this panel to that panel. All the women here wear revealing outfits and in the second story particularly they get into a number of suggestive poses.
