Into the Suck #1 is a comic written by Keith Thomas with art by C.B. Zane and colors by Oracle. Ursula’s next job is taking her into forbidden territory. This is a science fiction comic that is equal parts violent and sexy. The leading lady here is Ursula, she is a bounty hunter with a reputation for violence and doing what she wants. She has a stretchy green copilot named Squee. The story begins with Ursula visiting a tavern where she meets a man with information on a job that she wants. After putting an end to his resistance with an unrefusable offer, Ursula is on her way with what she needs. This takes place in a world with many different non-human creatures. The violence here can bloody and gory. The pacing is steady with a Star Wars-like tone. There are a couple intense moments due to violence and potential danger. The dialogue is mostly conversational with decent back-and-forth and some narration provided by Urusla. There are no word-heavy pages here. This is a debut issue that gives us the lay of the land with interesting characters and yet-to-be-determined stakes.
The art here is smoothly detailed and reminiscent of early 2000’s comics and features good lighting. The color range is taken from the wider sci-fi palette with a lot of metallic and bright tones. For scenery we have celestial bodies like asteroids, planets, and stars. The main locations for this story are the unnamed bar and Ursula’s ship. The backgrounds are varied and always show the surroundings. The expression level here is around average as some of these characters like to maintain a specific look. The emotional range here has happiness, fear, shock, and terror. The faces have a decent amount of detail and show the different expressions clearly. The violence involves laser-like bladed weapons that lead to blood and heavy gore. There is one fully visible action scene with the rest being either silhouettes or off-screen.
