Jinkies #2 is a comic written by neo Edmund with art by Dave Santana, Nelson Pereira, and Ferry Verdyal. Violet and Ginger continue their search for answers surrounding events at the old mine. This is a supernatural mystery comic that is sexy and sapphic with some drama and a women-only cast. The leading ladies here are Violet and Ginger, the surviving members of Super Eerie Incorporated. Violet is a glasses-wearing genius with a lab and top-notch technology. She likes to use science to explain things and she doesn’t believe in the supernatural. Ginger is a redhead with more beauty than brains and she has a vested interest in supernatural things. She is more upbeat than Violet and she likes to distract herself from stressful situations. The story begins where the last issue left off with the ladies cowering in the mine as a Pumpkin-headed man squares off with their dog Doobie, she has glowing red eyes and is covered in flames. Things then fast-forward to Violet in her lab running tests to see if this is in fact their same dog from before. The violence here is explosive but it doesn’t get bloody or gory. The pacing is steady with an adult Scooby-Doo tone. There are intense moments due to drama but most of them are sexual. The dialogue here has frequent back-and-forth and it is entirely conversational. There are no word-heavy pages. This is a sequel issue that is action-wise calmer than the last but it still brings the excitement in a mysterious story helmed by two fleshed-out, determined women.
The art here is detailed and drawn in a late 90’s/early 2000’s style with a very slight roughness. The color range is vast with outfit and location changes resulting in the use of different palettes. For scenery we have wide open fields and gnarled, twisted woods; both these areas have dark and heavy clouds overhead. The main location is Violet’s house but there is a lot of travel here from the mine to the beach and even to a mansion. The backgrounds here are split between showing the surroundings of the scene to being gradient colors. The expression level here is above-average as the looks these characters give off add extra weight to their words. Some of the common emotions are fear, sadness, annoyance, happiness, and bliss. The faces have a good amount of detail so even the subtle looks can be seen if you pay attention. There is some face sameness here but it shouldn’t confuse you. The violence involves explosions and vehicles but there isn’t any blood or gore. The action scene flows well and has a decent amount of panels. The women here are all built like models with long legs, large breasts, and pretty faces.
