Kristy Kringle #2 is a comic written by Marat Mychaels with art by Matthew Weldon and colors by Bryan Magnaye. Kristy goes on the offensive as she attempts to save Santa Claus from the traitorous elves. This is a supernatural tale that adds and alters the mythos of Santa Claus with some intrigue and extra violence. The leading lady for this tale is Kristy Kringle, she is the daughter of Santa Claus who has been away for quite some time but she has returned to set things straight. The main villain is an elf named Humphrey who is very angry with Santa and the way things have been. This issue begins with Kristy receiving some help from a famous creature and some intel about where Santa is being held. This story takes place in the modern world where Santa Claus and most of things about him are true. There is a revenge theme from characters on both sides of this conflict. The action is both bloody and gory with limb separation. The pacing is steady overall with the combat scenes moving faster. The tone almost feels like that of an action movie with scenes involving the elves being more intense. The dialogue has a decent amount of winter and Christmas references with no wordy pages. This is an issue that adds lore and provides excitement while building towards the next installment.
The art here is drawn in a detailed style that seems to have a realistic aim. The color scheme here is very Christmas with all of the scenery draped in snow. The atmosphere gives off a cold you can almost feel. The main location for this story is a castle stronghold which gives the situation a slightly medieval feel. The backgrounds more often than not contain part of the scene in them like sky or parts of the buildings. The expression level here is about average with a good variety of looks from the elves while Kristy is more stoic. The range is mostly from fear to anger as this is combat-heavy. The faces are detailed with strong features especially the eyes but every now and then they can look a bit off. The violence here has steel-based combat so there is a decent amount of blood and some gruesome shots. The action scenes here aren’t long but they are usually double-paged.
