Minxx Cyberpunk Season 4 is a comic written by Pat Shand with art by Romano Molenaar and colors by Edgar Delgado. Minxx attempts to relax at a hot springs but her reputation precedes her. This is a science fiction cyberpunk comic that stars a bounty hunter and features aliens, powerful technology, and creative criminals. The leading lady here Minxx, she is a skilled fighter and notorious bounty hunter that has gone through a lot(being framed, going to prison, fighting her clone) and is now taking a much-needed break. She has an A.I./Robotic companion named Bastion who controls her ship, speaks with her, and who also has the ability to make physical objects out of thin air like weapons and clothes. This story begins with Minxx at a resort lounging on a chair near a hot spring while sipping on a drink. She is approached by a guardsmen and though it seems like she’s about to have some trouble it turns out that the guard needs her help. This takes place in a world with speedy space travel and a number of different planets. The violence here shows some heavy-hits along with a strong amount of blood and gore. The pacing is overall slower than average with a somewhat adventurous sci-fi tone. There are some violently intense moments and dramatic segments. The dialogue is conversational and verbose with decent back-and-forth. There are a number of thick text blocks and bubble with a at least a couple word-heavy pages. This is an intriguing issue that provides some excitement and mystery while showing how much just how much Minxx has changed. There is a bonus story “The Rebirth of Midnight Moon” that serves as the lead-in for the next installment.
The art here is drawn in a detailed style that is reminiscent of comics from the 90’s with a notable focus on lighting. The color palette consists of a lot of blues and grays with a decent range of dark and light tones that stand out. For scenery there are jagged mountains, hot springs, and lengthy ravines. The main location for this story is the outdoors with Minxx traversing the landscape in her sizable spaceship. Backgrounds consistently show the actual surroundings which gives each scene a bit more weight. The expression level here is around average as Minxx is the focus and constantly reacts to what is going on. Frequent emotions on display include irritation, confusion, shock, sadness, and happiness. The faces tend to have an above-average amount of detail and they show the different expressions clearly. Violence is delivered with a laser gun and pure physicality. There are some hard hits, and some gruesomeness leading to a notable amount of blood and gore. The action scenes tend to have a high panel count with a smooth flow. Minxx wears a revealing combat outfit and all the women here show off their midriff.
