Miss Meow #3: Retail Edition is a comic written by Murphey and Aaron Sparrow, and illustrated by Victor Serra and illustrated by Gaston Zubeldia. A battle ensues between the forces of Miss Meow and Katfight as the latter is attempting to regain her tech. This issue is full of combat and danger with handfuls of interesting plot dispersed throughout. Miss Meow is a woman with lots of cat-themed everything who is a general force for good. Katfight is a woman with cat-themed everything whose main thing is going after Miss Meow. There are many side characters that play important roles such as Kit, Kat, Mange, Mittens, and Artemis. There is a theme here. The plot picks up immediately where the last one left off with Miss Meow residence under attack by Katfight’s troops. The story jumps from the fight at the house to Miss Meow as she is currently imprisoned by Katfight. The action is has a little bit of everything and isn’t afraid to get bloody but the gore is light. The pace is steady with quite a few intense and surprising moments. The dialogue is very snarky and the fight scenes are full of quips. There is only one wordy page but it is near the end so it won’t disrupt the pace. This is a comic that gives a deeper look at these ladies’ various motivations and opens up a can of worms that’ll leave you hooked and waiting for the next issue.
The art style here is modern and smooth looking but not to the point where details are sacrificed. The main colors here are pink and black which represent the two sides. The bulk of this story takes place at Miss Meow’s mansion with scenes in a lab and a living room being the hotspots. The expression level here is pretty high with the large cast conveying many different looks. Faces are drawn a bit smooth but generally have enough detail and are malleable enough for them to easily get the emotions across. There is arguably some face sameness but I’d say it’s more face similarity. There are a lot of characters here so the faces will only be so unique. The hair in this comic is done well with a number of styles being shown. The weapons here are guns, bows, knives, katanas, and a bunch of other stuff. There is also some dangerous gas strewn about. The action scenes seem to always feature blood with the occasional death. Occasionally the sequence doesn’t seem to flow right but it shouldn’t bother you. The outfits are mostly combat gear or something more suited for a sunny day except for Katfight’s, tends to stand out with something a bit more revealing.
Compared to the Kickstarter Edition this one has massive dialogue changes which gives more info on the characters and helps build the story. It also has some smoother, clearer art and extra pages.
