Miss Meow #4: Kickstarter Edition is a comic created by Jamie Tyndall, Murphey, and Shawn Hudachko, and published by Merc Publishing. In this issue we see Miss Meow and Katfight embark on separate quests that are more closely related than they think. The story starts off in outer space where we are introduced to a key plot point that will immediately confuse you. Possibly. I know I had to reread a few pages before I could move on. Our main ladies are the heroic Miss Meow and the villainous Katfight. They do have some resourceful teams behind them, Miss Meow’s is unnamed and Katfight has her harem. Not sure if it’s literal or not. The plot has Miss Meow recouping after the last battle and going on a mission to save some people whereas Katfight is discombobulated after the last issue’s events and is just trying to get things straight. This might be the first comic from Merc Publishing where the action is virtually non-existent. The dialogue is full of hero talk on one side and realistically angry on the other. Some pages are a bit wordy but it reads smoothly and shouldn’t slow down the story. This is an issue that calms things down while building suspense for the follow up.
This comic is drawn in a realistic style with heavy emphasis on pink and black colors. From a space station interior to various office spaces we see well-drawn locations that persist from panel-to-panel. The expression level is barely reaching average here; half the characters have stiff faces that can barely take on a new look. The faces are drawn well though, but face sameness is a problem here. The super suits here are mostly skin tight and full body for all genders but they boast different accent colors for style. The only person here extra sexualized is Katfight, but that’s sort of her deal.
