Nothing-Man #5 is a comic created by John Rhodes and published by Hyperverse Comics. This is one of those calm-before-the-storm issues. It is also a backstory extravaganza! We find out John Doe’s real name and what his whole deal is with this amnesia business. We learn about Chaotika(the lady with the thing in her forehead) and why she is always angry, and beware, it gets a bit dark. Speaking of dark we get the skinny on Supremous/Hyperious/Heath and his problems and why he makes the choice to be a dick. This is an exposition heavy issue with a decent amount of action, so don’t worry about drowning in words. Quite a few of the questions you might have had that have built up over the past four issues will be answered here.
This is the smoothest looking issue by far. Though I personally prefer the cleaned up 90’s look this works well. Locations stand out here more than they have anywhere else in this series. Whether it is government facilities, destroyed buildings, or even the night sky, there is a lot of scenery to chew on. Expressive faces are a hallmark of this series but they aren’t as prominent in this issue, and they suffer slightly from sameness. We don’t see many powers at work this episode but they do maintain the standard of being well drawn. One quick glance at a few of the female characters and we can tell how cold it is Paradise City.
