Nothing-Man #6 is a comic created by John Rhodes and published by Hyperverse Comics. It’s starting to get real now! There’s probably gonna be a 20-man fight next issue. We get the final part, the missing piece to Nothing-Man’s backstory that explains what’s really going on between him and his siblings. Elsewhere lines are drawn in the sand but we still don’t fully understand some characters’ motivations. We have the quips and snappy dialogue this series is known for, but at a couple points it gets a bit preachy and a little too hammy. This is clearly a “calm before the storm” issue so there aren’t great strides made plotwise, as this issue hops to a bunch of different areas and doesn’t dwell on specific characters long enough(except Nothing-Man). But when it all comes down to it, this is a great primer for what seems like the rapidly approaching conclusion.
Locations this issue are very limited, we have ruins, a lab, a vehicle, more ruins, the sky, so I’ll just be focusing on the people. Costume variety is high, they all have their fits and gear that makes them stand out and keeps them differentiated. When it comes to the face, every character has a jaw line that could sever steel. I have to be honest though, this issue does suffer from face sameness a bit, but they get around it by having various hair colors, lip colors, eye colors, piercings, and other accessories. Most comics suffering from this tend to just change only the hair and eyes, but this issue does enough to keep people separate. Faces are the least expressive they’ve been this whole series, but that’s less due to the art and more so the story. The coloring does seem to have a much darker tone, which fits with the story direction.
“Is this worth reading?”
Yes.
“Would I like this?”
Superhero fans should have already been reading this, and while this isn’t a women led story 4 out of the 5 main characters in this comic are women. This is also very story driven and not just a punch-fest.
“What would this comic’s film rating be?”
R, for body parts not being where they are supposed to be and rough question-asking.
“Could I get a quote from the comic?”
“Face it man, you are in no condition to fight right now.”
