Perfect 10 #1 is a comic created by Dave Brink. This is about a woman with powers who wakes up knowing nothing and must immediately fight for her life. When a high-tech facility is beset by a team of superpowered foes a woman named Ten and a scientist named Pratt must find a way out. Our leading lady Ten is full of mystery as she no idea what’s going on and her past unfolds throughout the story. Doctor Pratt is the guy with the answers but he isn’t as forthcoming due to the current situation. The plot is pretty straightforward; these folk are just trying to get out alive. There are some cool fights and powers on display but for the most part the goal is pretty clear. This is a fast-paced comic but there is a thick, wordy, expositiony backstory moment that grinds the story to a halt. But besides that one sore spot it’s a pretty fun romp. The dialogue is full of big science words and hero/villain talk which can get tiresome after a bit. Some pages aren’t wordy but read longer due to word choice. Overall this is an exciting comic that introduces us to a new superheroine and shows us what she can do.
This is a comic with a wide range of colors and lots of details that can be seen in even small transitionary panels. The main location is this facility that is reminiscent of a spaceship with a bunch of cables hanging like rainforest vines, metal walls in long hallways, and double doors done Star Wars-style. This is an extremely expressive comic. Too much expression can make things look silly and cartoony but the line is not crossed here. There are no hidden emotions here as whatever the characters are feeling is displayed across their face. This wouldn’t work if the faces weren’t as high detail as they are; everything here is nice to look at. We have a bunch of gunplay here but we do see some various blasts and other superpowers used. The action scenes here are lengthy and easy to follow; some of them going punch-by-punch. This isn’t full of blood and gore but if it is gonna show something nasty it does not hold back. Ten spends a good chunk of this issue naked(privates are hidden Adam & Eve style) before putting on a skin tight outfit.
