Power Hour #3 is a comic written by Shawn Hudachko with art by Narcelio Sousa and colors by Israel Silva. Jennifer is unknowingly being hunted by a woman with the same abilities as her. This is a science fiction superheroine comic with supernatural elements, strong violence, and powerful women at the helm. The leading lady here is Power Hour, real name Jennifer Jordan. She is a biochemistry student who created potions(later pills) using recipes she found in a mysterious, ancient-looking book. When she takes a potion/pill and says the name of a specific ability she is granted that power for exactly one hour. Her father is a firefighter and her best friend is a fellow college student named Tara. This story begins with this dark-haired, shades-wearing mystery woman receiving some information and speeding off. She heads to Jennifer’s house and wrecks it looking for the book Jennifer used to give herself abilities. The perspective then shifts to Jennifer in a science class struggling and failing to stay awake. The action here is destructive and bloody with some gruesomeness. The pacing is steady with a thrilling tone that has the feel of a minor climax before the major climax of a movie. There are many violently intense moments with a couple dramatic ones. The dialogue is all conversational with a lot of aggression and back-and-forth. There are no word-heavy pages here. This is an exciting issue that raises the stakes and takes a huge step storywise while showing the main characters in more dire and dangerous situations.
The art here is drawn in a smoothly detailed, modern style that looks like a cleaned up version of late 90’s/early 2000’s comics. The color palette is a realistic with a decent range and a lot of red-adjacent and silver-grey tones. For scenery there are some rare trees and distant mountains. There are many locations here from classrooms to dorms and houses to hospitals. The backgrounds usually show the immediate surroundings and these tend to be paired with cloudy or dotted gradients. The expression level here is high as there are frequent and intense reactions. Emotions tend to be either aggressive or somber with a lot of rage, anger, and sadness. The faces are smooth on ladies with an average amount of detailing overall and the ability to get a bit animated which helps the looks come across strongly. There is some face sameness among a couple of men as they are both bald with no facial hair. The violence here is mainly physical with a lot of fire. There are some brutal and gruesome attacks that lead blood and light gore. There is one long action that has many panels and flows well. All of the women here are pretty and large-breasted with curvy, model-like bodies. Most of their clothing is skintight.
