PRINCE-S STARthief #2 is a comic written, colored(with assists from Ronaldo Barata), and lettered by Jason Martin with artwork and shading by Winston Young. PRINCE-S finds herself being hunted down by a familiar foe and the PEP-C co is starting to make some moves. This is a sci-fi story that takes place in outer space that is full of references and action while maintaining a high level of style. All characters of prominence here are women and the lead for this story is PRINCE-S, a thief who lives off the grid and is currently being searched for. Introduced in this issue is Q-EEN, she works for the PEP-C co as its leader. There is another woman that I can’t get into for spoiler reasons. We also get a bit of backstory on a few of these characters, but just tidbits. The plot picks up a good amount of time after the last where we find the PRINCE-S taking a breather at her home base before things get interesting. The action here gets bloody and gory so be prepared. The pace is pretty steady throughout but seems a bit faster during the more intense scenes. The dialogue is much more understandable this time around; there was a story reason for why PRINCE-S spoke that way in the first issue. So far I’d say this series is pretty light when it comes to words, no wordy pages here. This is a follow up that is more exciting than the first with intriguing characters that you’ll want to learn more about.
The art here is decent when it comes to the locations but great when it comes to the characters. There is also some great coloring and shading on display here. We only visit two locations here, one being PRINCE-S’s home base and the other is the PEP-C co’s headquarters on the moon. Both these places have the atmosphere of a space opera so everything is looks high tech and sterile. This time around the expression level is higher but the characters don’t emote much overall. The main looks we’ll see are gleeful anger and a blank face. I believe that is part of the story at this point because the faces are detailed enough to show more emotion. A lot of the equipment and gadgets seen here are references to other sci-fi themed properties so a few things may seem familiar. The action here involves guns and robots and get bloody pretty quick. The scenes are easy to follow and do get gory. All the women here have large breasts and the majority of them wear outfits that part in the middle which is revealing.
