PRINCE-S STARthief #3 is a comic written and lettered by Jason Martin with artwork and shading by Winston Young and colors by Ronaldo Barata with Jason Martin. The fight between PRINCE-S and her sister continues and gets up close and personal. This is a violent issue with motivation-revealing backstories and high detail art. The lead of this story is PRINCE-S, a woman who has a vengeance against the PEP-C co and is currently being hunted by them. She has a quick wit and an anger about her. Going against her is her sister FIREbird, who holds a grudge against her for reasons you’ll learn in the story. The plot picks up immediately where the last one left off as this fight sibling fight continues. There are some flashbacks and slightly heavier moments interspersed throughout this fight. The action here is bloody, gory, and explosive. Things here are moderately intense as it is a fight pretty much the entire time. The dialogue can get vulgar and is very hostile with little room for humor. Despite the fact that people are almost always talking there are no wordy pages. This is the third issue and while these tend to be calm story-builders this one gives us an intense fight while giving us reasons as to why this is happening.
This is a very smooth-looking art style that has eye-catching details and some great coloring. Some of these panels look like screenshots from a cartoon, that’s how good they are. The location for this fight is partly in outer space, and partly in the storage area of PRINCE-S’s ship. This is the most expressive issue by far with the characters here showing a number of different looks throughout this fight. The faces are very detailed and get animated. They really use the whole face when they emote. The equipment here is hard light, lasers, electric whips, and straight up blasts. Watching the combat here is a visual treat and it is pretty easy to follow things. Prepare to see some blood and gore but rest assured this whole fight isn’t like that. The fighting ladies are dressed like a sexy Darth Vader and Princess Leia with large busts and a lack of clothes. Star Wars is not the only property referenced here, this comic is full of them.
