Queens of Dixie #2 is a comic created by Shawn Hudachko and Jamie Tyndall with art by Donny Hadiwidjaja and colors by Julius Pungky Setiawan. In order to avoid a potential jail sentence the Daisy Dukes are forced to do a job for The Big Boss Lady. This is a parody of The Dukes of Hazzard starring women with some country-style violence, open road eeriness, and speedy vehicles. The leading ladies here are Laura and Beth, they are close cousins whose rambunctious personalities and daring actions have given them a daredevil-like reputation. They live with their Aunt Jessie who is well-known for her cannabis-based cupcakes. They are regularly at odds with Deputy Roslin and her superior The Big Boss Lady. This story begins with a Friday Night Feast & Fight at the Daisy Farm with a brawl between the Daisy Dukes and the Home-Wreckers. The brawling begins immediately between these bikini-clad women and even the referee isn’t safe. The violence in this story is hard-hitting but there isn’t any blood or gore. This moves at a steady pace a few fast sections and a rural, country tone. There isn’t much dramatic intensity here but there are multiple moments of violence and danger. The dialogue is very country/Southern with a lot of back-and-forth, slang, and accents you can hear. There are no word-heavy pages here. This is an exciting and thrilling issue that stars two fun-loving and adventurous ladies in a story that’ll keep you engaged and on your toes.
The art here is drawn in a detailed modern style with decent lighting and shading. The color palette is realistic with a wide range overall. There is a good deal of scenery here from grass and trees to dusty land and rocky outcrops. The main location is the Daisy Dukes’ car, the Belle, as they travel across the state. Some of the more stagnant places we’ll see are the Daisy Farm and a gas station. The backgrounds consistently show the actual surroundings which gives the different scenes a bit more life. The expression level here is above-average as the characters are constantly visibly reacting to what goes on. Emotions here go from happy and jovial to shock and fear along with some moments of anger and confusion. The faces have an above-average amount of detail from the eyes to the teeth which leads to just about expression being clear. Firearms are used here though most of the pain is delivered physically. There are some hard-hits and danger but there isn’t any blood or gore. The action scenes tend to come in lengthy bursts with a flow that can be confusing at certain points. All the women here have large breasts and are built like models. Most of their clothing is tight or revealing in some way and there are lewd poses and angles.
