Redemption #1 is a comic by C. A. Grant and J. C. Litteral with art by Jonas da Costa. A paranormal hunter battles her nightmares while searching for a demon. This is a supernatural comic with horror elements and drama that stars a woman on a mission. The woman in question is Seraphina, she has been hunting paranormal beings and creatures for a while now after a traumatic childhood event. Throughout this story she will come across people she knows and people who somehow know her. This tale begins with Seraphina having a familiar nightmare before waking up and turning on the news. She learns that a rockslide has cut off the town of Dark Lake communication-wise with odd weather-related events occurring so she decides to go investigate. The violence here is very bloody and extremely gory. The pacing here is fast-paced to steady and it can and most likely will confuse you at some points. The tone is dark and uneasy with strong horror vibes. There are many intense moments as a result of danger and violence. The dialogue here is conversational and aggressive with a decent amount of thought bubbles. There are no word-heavy pages here. This is a debut issue that delivers on the horror with an interesting story and a leading lady who is fighting nightmares both in real life and in her sleep.
The art here is drawn in a modern style with a decent amount of detail and notable lighting and shading. The color range here is mostly dark and faded which fits the story but the characters manage to stay lit. The scenery here is mainly trees and grass near buildings and by roads and it is somewhat rare. The backgrounds are frequently solid/gradient colors, more often than the actual surroundings. The expression level here is around average as we get a decent amount of looks from the different characters. The emotional range is mostly fear and terror with some anger and sadness. The faces sport a decent amount of detail so the different expressions usually come across well. The violence here primarily involves sharp objects and gets bloody with some gratuitous gore. The action scenes tend to come in short burst with a flow that can throw you off occasionally.
