Saving the World #5 is a comic written and illustrated by Tonicmole and published by Tonic Comix. Well isn’t this a treat, this issue has three stories in it! We have our standard Saving the World adventure, a Lilly and Wepwawet story, and a Hobo-Girl tale! Our main story begins with Kierra, Nora, and new addition Alice just chilling at the house watching some television. After Nora shows off her new taser glove and we learn of the whereabouts of a former a villain, Kierra and Alice head to the comic store where they see supervillains on more than just the page. The L&W story shows us Lilly’s life before Wepwawet came through with the assist, and it might tug on your heartstrings a little bit. The final bit of reading material is Hobo-Girl on what appears to be her first hero mission, the end of which will leave you with zero answers and a bunch of questions. Per usual this comic as a whole has dialogue you’d hear in real life, witty and funny back-and-forths and the lightly depressing internal monologues. Overall a good read with decent story progression.
This comic still maintains its unique artstyle, which might not be for everybody, but it fits perfectly. The slightly goofy look works with the story and the dialogue as the humorous situations that occur are more likely to draw out a chuckle when you see the characters’ faces. Speaking of faces, there are quite a few you will see in these stories, and they are very expressive. Expressions from snarky to smug and these blended with onscreen physicality make for a visually pleasing read.

This is a woman-led comic and the entire main cast is women. With superpowers. You should give this a try.
