Saving the World #6 is a comic written and illustrated by Tonicmole and published by Tonic Comix. Kierra and Nora make their long-awaited return and are facing their most dangerous threat yet! Co-starring Hobo-Girl! This issue touches on so many different genres it’ll make your head spin. Of course you have the overall air of comedy, but this story has horror elements of both the eldritch and extra-terrestrial kind! Not to mention the super heroine and freelancer vibes. But don’t let that lead you to think that this comic has its hand in too many pots; this is a very well put together tale that will keep you intrigued. There is the occasional wordy page but for the most part it reads at a decent pace from panel to panel. The comedy here is witty and realistic without sounding cliché. The plot makes enough sense so far, and I say that because this is part one, we’ll have to wait for the follow up. Six issues in and Saving the World hasn’t missed yet.
This issue really only hits about four different locations and they stand out at varying degrees. Some are prominently featured; others give you just enough to know where you are. This is a very expressive comic where characters have a tendency to use their whole bodies when talking, which helps them seem more alive and less like talking stiffs. And these characters wear their emotions on their faces. And it isn’t just resigned to big moments or important scenes, our heroines are constantly showing different looks. The outfits these women wear look very superhero-like, which also means that look a bit non-functional. This issue has a decent amount of action that looks and flows well, but I expect the follow up to be a bit more violent. Are these ladies sexualized? Looks-wise, yeah. Some of their outfits don’t seem suited for their line of work. But in-comic? Nope.
“Is this worth reading?”
Yes.
“Would I like this?”
If you like superwomen, up-and-coming heroes, slight horror, and otherworldly foes, this might be something you’d want to read. And this is women-led.

PG-13.
“Could I get a quote from the comic?”
“I’m just the muscle! Why didn’t you say something earlier?!”
