Saving the World #2 is a comic written and illustrated by Tonicmole and published by Tonic Comix. While the first issue might have made you chuckle, this one will definitely make you laugh. We join our new superheroines Kierra and Nora as they discuss their brand new team up. After a very deep discussion about sidekicks, height, and bust size they hear about a robbery being committed through their police scanner. It’s time for this unnamed team to spring into action! I thoroughly enjoy the way this comic the way this gives us a glimpse of newly empowered people in a world where superpowers didn’t exist. I must stress that this is a very funny comic, the characters are very witty and think quickly on their feet. But don’t assume that this is just full of goofs, there is enough drama for you to sink your teeth into.
The main character Kierra kind of reminds me of Ginger from As Told by Ginger, looks-wise. Moving on, I believe the art style and humor go hand-in-hand. I doubt it would have worked if it had more of a mainstream style. The effects onscreen when powers are being used are decent, and explosive scenes are nicely done. Once again, the faces help carry the story. They are very expressive especially when it comes to goofiness, puzzlement, and anger. One thing I do appreciate is how no two characters look alike. There is also a bonus page at the end drawn by Illustrator Monk.
