Slaughter Dollz #2 is a comic written, drawn, and lettered by Steve Messenger. Kat and Bunny are searching for a way to make money so they can pay their rent. This is a dramatic comic that stars two violent women and contains sci-fi and stealth elements. The more violent of the two is Butcher Bunny, she is a blonde who likes to choose murder as the first option and is quick to anger. Spooky Von Kat has dark hair and likes to think through situations before turning to brutality. These ladies get into frequent arguments as they both have their own issues to deal with. The story begins with Kat and Bunny discussing ways to make money as rent is due tomorrow. Kat suggests they do a shift at the strip club but Bunny refuses to go there and this leads to an argument where some cutting remarks are exchanged. The violence here is bloody and gruesome with some gore. The pacing goes from steady to slow as there can be a lot to take in and the tone is that of a stealthy action thriller. The intensity here is heightened due to violence, heavy danger, and dramatic moments. The dialogue is conversational with a lot of back-and-forth, angry comments, and snarky comebacks. There are many wordy pages and some thick text bubbles. This is an exciting sequel issue that pushes things forward with violence and backstory while providing us with more details on our murderous mesdames.
The art here is drawn with a detailed soft smoothness and a strong focus on lighting and shading. The color range here is decent with orange/pink and blues being what you’ll see the most. The majority of this story takes place inside buildings and cars so there isn’t much natural scenery here. The location changes a few times with each place being unique from their apartment, to a strip club, even to a limo. The backgrounds do a good job of showing the immediate surroundings which gives the scene a bit more impact. The expression level here is a bit above average as these ladies give us a variety of looks from the overt to the subtle. The main emotion is anger with some sadness, confusion, irritation, rage, and happiness, both sinister and cheerful. The faces have a decent amount of detail and tend to show the expressions clearly, though on occasion they, along with the bodies, can look a bit stiff and rough. The violence here can involve bladed weapons but it is usually physical. There is some blood and gore along with some gruesome attacks. The action scenes are spread out with two main lengthy ones and they have good, smooth flow. The women in this comic are usually scantily clad or dressed in revealing clothes and there are numerous lewd/sexy shots.
