Slaughter Dollz #3 is a comic written, drawn, and lettered by Steve Messenger. Bunny is in a race against time to save Kat from the clutches of Ivan. This is a dramatic science fiction organized crime comic that is very violent, stealthy, sexually charged, and it stars mainly women. The first of the two leading ladies we see is Spooky Von Kat, real name Danni Dunbar. She is a dark-haired serial killer(of criminals) whose normal job is being a waitress at a strip club with Bunny. Butcher Bunny, real name Bella Baisley, is the blonde, loose cannon, best friend of Kat who can be very brutal and bloodthirsty when it comes to criminal killing. Bunny has a quicker temper than Kat but they both have rage and overall emotional issues due to tragic and traumatic pasts. This story begins with a flashback from five years ago where the representatives of twelve different gangs in Sunset City are having a meeting. They are about to hold a vote for an overall leader as an organization called the Emerald Hand is moving in. We then get a look at some girls, one of whom is Spooky Von Kat, discuss their mission to rig the planned election. The violence here can get bloody and gruesome but there isn’t really any gore. This moves at an overall slightly slower-than-average pace as there can be a lot to read but there are some speedier sections. This has an action-thriller tone with heavy stakes and limited time. There are numerous violently intense moments mixed in with some dramatic ones. The dialogue is conversational and aggressive with some technical talk and a lot of narration. There are at least a few word-heavy pages and a number of thick text bubbles. This is a thrilling and captivating sequel issue that tells a dark story and has two ladies at the helm whose violent pasts and presents have made them perfect for situations like this.
The art here is drawn in a modern style with semi-bold outlines and decent lighting and shading. The color palette is somewhat wide with an almost watercolor-like softness to it; the different tones tend to lean either dark or bright with not many in the middle. Though we do see some trees and bushes there isn’t much natural scenery here. The primary locations are either mansions or manors with many different rooms such as a kitchen or basement. Backgrounds are split between being a soft gradient color and showing the actual surroundings like walls and furniture. The expression level here is a bit below average as these characters seem to “serve face” more often than they react. Emotions here include shock, anger, sadness, rage, and sinister happiness. Faces here have a slightly above-average amount of detail with larger eyes; most of the different expressions should be easy to decipher. There is some strong face sameness among the women but due to the eye, hair, and lipstick you shouldn’t really get confused. Bladed weapons and firearms are frequently used. The violence is bloody with hard-hitting and gruesome attacks but no gore. There are a number of action scenes and they are at least two pages in length with unique panel breakdown and a smooth flow. All of the women here are built like models with large breasts; they all wear tight and/or revealing clothing.
