START AGAIN #2 is a comic written by Jaime Me with art by Toni Doya and colors by Sean Callahan. Ajay hears some life-changing news and deals with some internal struggles. This is a superhero comic that takes place in Leeds with heavy drama, strong violence, and a bit of mystery. The main man here is Jump, real name Ajay. He has super strength and durability and he is currently dealing with slander and negativity from the media at large after he was caught outside in the nude. Natalie is a woman who had a one-night stand with Ajay the night he was exposed in public. This story begins with Ajay in shock that he’s going to be a dad now that Natalie is pregnant. They sit on her tub and talk about how crazy it is that this happened when suddenly someone breaks down her door. The violence here is physical and brutal but there isn’t any blood or gore. The pacing here fluctuates from steady to fast and the tone is like that of an action heavy rom-com with some mystery elements. There are a few violently intense moments. The dialogue is mostly conversational with a UK talking style and narration from an outside source. There are no word-heavy pages here. This is an exciting sequel issue that moves things along with reveals and drama-increasing implications that Ajay will have to deal with.
The art here is drawn in a detailed modern style that is slightly reminiscent of older comics. The color range is wide and realistic but with more darks than light and brights. While we do see a few trees and a river most of this takes place in and around buildings. The main location is Natalie’s apartment though there are some outdoor scenes on streets and walkways. The backgrounds do a good job of showing the immediate and distant surroundings with gradient colors being rare. The expression level here is a tick above average as there are many reactions to what goes on here. Emotions on display are shock, anger, confusion, happiness, and fear. The faces have an decent to above-average amount of detail with most looks coming across clearly. The violence here is delivered physically with some hard and brutal hits, but no blood or gore. There is one action scene and it has a smooth flow.
