The Fog Within #1 is a comic written by Sean Wood with art by Deivid Deon, A3Dico, Sandro Ribeiro, D’ART, and Josh Rodriguez. A man is surprised to learn that he is an important part of a rebellion. This is a science fiction tale with some supernatural elements and large cast. The main man for this tale is Hunter, he is regular guy who is lost and confused in the middle of a dangerous area. He is being escorted and assisted by Cole, Alpha, Epsilon and Zeta, all members of the Resistance. This is a team of people with different skills plans of action. The story begins in the middle of a volatile situation with oppressive Swarm troops marching in the city. The Resistance is attempting to escort Hunter to safety as swiftly as possible. This takes place in a world where nukes have been dropped, infections are spreading, and adults are being taken. The action here is physical and bloody with a couple gruesome shots but no gore. The pacing is slower-than-average as the story can be a bit confusing and you’ll have some lingering questions that won’t get answered until deep into the comic. The tone is lightly serious with more than a few intense moments. The dialogue is mostly conversational with some mid-battle quips and narration. There are thick text bubbles and at least a couple word-heavy pages. This is a debut comic that gives us exciting moments in a fleshed-out world and that features a large cast of characters wrapped up in an intriguing story.
The art here is drawn in a more modern style with good detail and grittiness. The colors tend to lean towards metallic and they are mostly silvers and blues. For scenery we have a rocky wasteland and a slightly rough looking inner city. The majority of this story takes place on the streets and rooftops of the city but it will eventually move to more private locations. The backgrounds usually show the scene but on the rare occasion they don’t it will usually be a color gradient. The expression level here is average with most of the looks being angry or determined as the Resistance is made of a bunch of hard people. The faces tend to have high detail so all the various emotions they feel come across clearly. The violence here is primarily physical with a bit of blood and nasty looking attacks. The action scenes can be explosive and are of decent length with a good flow.
