Unseen Sun: Chapter 1 is a comic written and illustrated by Christina J Moore. I’ll be honest this was a slightly confusing read. The story follows three(or four) different people as they all do different things. We have a nameless woman running from something, a nameless pirate captain about to set off on a voyage, and a guy dressed in dark clothes doing something fitting the description. This comic suffers a bit from being a “pilot episode” in that it really just lays the groundwork for the forthcoming issues and doesn’t offer much to sink your teeth into. But with two mysterious characters and a currently unknown premise I think this series has good potential.
The art style in this story isn’t the standard realistic kind you see in big name comics. One of the benefits of this style is that when humor is present, it stands out. The faces in this comic are drawn very expressively with great attention paid to the eyes specifically. Pertaining to the rest of their bodies the characters are drawn with great outfits, different hairstyles, and distinguishable physical features that help them stand out in their own way. The only slight I have when it comes to what is on the paper is that the text size varies significantly and sometimes it is a bit difficult to read.
“Is this worth reading?”
Yes.
“Would I like this?”
If you like swashbuckler tales or fugitive stories from that era this might be up your alley.
“What would this comic’s film rating be?”
PG.
“Could I get a quote from the comic?”
“Marvelous! Keep it up and stop complaining, you scurvy dogs!”
