Wall Breakers #1 is a comic created by Jorge Zevallos. This is a science fiction tale that starts off nice and calm but it does not end the same way. This story has our unnamed black lead dealing with an unknown threat(that I won’t spoil) using the more popular application of the fight-or-flight response. Once the main part of our story kicks off the pace gets very fast. You’ll be seeing a bunch of action and it’ll keep you on your toes. There isn’t much in the way of plot, but this is the comic equivalent of an action movie so only one of those things matter. This isn’t technically horror but it’s awful close. Aside from a few wordy pages this comic has a below-average amount of dialogue, which in a comic like this isn’t a bad thing. Get ready for an action-thriller in comic form!
The locations here are drawn with great detail which is very necessary for a story like this. From the buildings to the roads to even the store signs this comic has little details that help make the world seem alive. The art is in black-and-white which makes the little things pop out more and it shows through the expressions. Especially when it comes to the faces, we can see the terror, pain, and fear clear as day. I believe this story takes place in the future but it’s not too far ahead because all the outfits fit our current time. Some of the more sci-fi elements of this tale look a bit gross and unsettling but that was the intention and it adds to the story. There is a lot of gory action all over the place and the pacing is fast but you shouldn’t get lost. This is a visual treat.
